With over 11 years of experience in the legal field, Catarina began practicing law in Seattle in 2020. Originally born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal, Catarina spent her formative years in New York before relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 2016 to pursue her JD at Seattle University School of Law. During her time there, she expanded her legal expertise by studying International Law in Madrid and Hamburg, and gained valuable experience as a summer clerk for the Honorable Ronald B. Leighton at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

Catarina’s interest in the intersectionality of law and medicine began in 2010, when she was pre-law in college, and a close friend was in medical school. Prior to joining JGKMW, Catarina worked at a small personal injury law firm in Seattle, where she dove into medical malpractice. Catarina now represents providers and health care institutions in both Washington and Alaska, defending their care in complex medical malpractice claims, licensing investigations, and disciplinary actions. Catarina also dabbles in premises liability and other insurance defense matters.

Outside of work, Catarina enjoys spending time with her family and cats, cooking traditional Portuguese dishes, and staying physically active. Known for her networking skills, she is dedicated to cultivating meaningful relationships both professionally and personally. She is also an active participant in local city council meetings, engaging in issues that are important to her and affect her community. Catarina’s diverse background and skillset make her a valuable asset to the JGKMW team.
